Statement. Sleeves.
Before I dive into the usual outfit details, I wanted to share something with all of you.
Never would I have imagined that one day I would be wearing an outfit like this...statement sleeves AND colors?! It just wasn't "my thing".
The thing is, growing up, I always stuck to one style and that was it. My favorite color was (and still is) black and that is pretty much all I wore with shades of grey, white and denim in the winter. It got to the point that my friends told me that if I ever wrote a memoir it would be called "Denim, Faux Leather & Combat Boots".
Then when warmer weather came around, I would trade in my black and grey collection for a earthy toned Boho style. And I kept this on rotation year after year.
It was not that I did not want to take risks. I would admire other people and I would want to try new looks, but for some reason in my head I had this idea that once I dressed a certain way I had to stick to that. But, as people say, the older you get...the wiser you get. I have come to realize and understand that fashion is a form of art in it's own way. It is a form of expression. That being said, one should never feel like they cannot wear someting because it does not match the things they normally would wear.
If one day you want to wear floral and then the next day wear leather pants with a band tee...go ahead! Dress according to your mood, express how you feel through your clothes! You should never feel tied down to one style. And, if you always wear black, but your second favorite color is yellow...then go ahead and wear that yellow sweater with the crazy statement sleeves. As long as you feel confident in it, that is all that matters!
The necklace is thrifted. My mum actually got it at a flea market and ended up giving it to me.
The combat boots are from DSW. I got these years ago and these are the boots that brought about my memoir title, haha. DSW always has such a great selection of shoes. Not to mention, at GREAT deals. Right now their boots are a percentage off so make sure to check it out and snag some cute boots for the rest of this winter and the next one! I found these cute combat boots with a nice quilted pattern detail.
The jeans are Zara and they fit so good! The material is super stretchy so even thought you are wearing denim, it feels like you're wearing leggings...almost. Here are the Zara stretch jeans.
Also, total side note, I never realized what a great photo back drop our own apartment is! I am loving this brick wall and wooden accents!
