Au Revoir...To My Hopes For Spring
Not going to lie, this past weekend was so beautiful and it really got my hopes up that warmer weather was finally here...just for those hopes to be shattered when it started snowing today, April 17! This weather is just ridiculous and I am longing for warmer days so I can wear my cute Spring / Summer outfits that I have been planning.
Last week though, I did (somewhat) take advantage of the warmer weather and wore a short sleeve shirt with NO sweater! I work early mornings though so I still layered a coat over my outfit, but I wore my peacoat which has been sitting in my closet because it is not the warmest of coats and I save it for those "in-between" days.
The peacoat is from Forever 21, it is super cozy and fits boyfriend style, but as I mentioned, it is more suitable for those in between days unless you layer heavily underneath on colder days. The watch pictured is from Fossil. It is my absolute favorite because it has a really unique design on the face and glass is cut really cool too. One day I will have to try and get a close up shot of it.
I follow a blogger on Instagram who goes by the username "TheGreyLayers" and her style is SUCH an inspiration for me. She has the perfect combination of casual chic, borrowed from the boys, edgy yet classic...I could go on. So, I was a bit inspired by her for this outfit and wanted to capture a cool action shot of my coat, but I think I am going to leave that to the professionals for now. :,)
The jeans are from Fashion Nova which fit so well! I do not have that annoying gap by my waist in them and they are the perfect combination of tight, but still boyfriend style. I definitely recommend Fashion Nova to anyone who has thought about or been hesitant about buying from there. I am pretty sure I mentioned this in a previous post, but I was hesitant to shop form here because I thought it was another Instagram ad type website with cheap clothing, but it is actually really good quality. And, the fit is worth the price, which is not even that high!
The gold booties I have posted before bother here and my Instagram. These booties are my top favorites, I just cannot get enough! I hope I figure out a way to incorporate them into my Spring / Summer looks because I do not want to box them up until next Fall!
The shirt is Forever 21. I have been recently trying out new styles, especially ones that I would typically consider "girly" and this shirt was one of those things. It is made of a nice spandex mix of fabric so it is good for tucking since it lays nicely against your skin. It has a mock neck and the features a mesh detail which is the perfect amount of "showing skin without actually showing it". And then the ruffle which in my opinion adds the perfect amount of sexiness and girliness.
I really like the idea of pairing these girly pieces with edgier ones and also masculine ones. In the past, I believe, that my style has been pretty standard. I would switch between my Boho styles in the Summer and then my neutral color palette in the winter, but I really want to transition to a "new look". As I get older I want to start incorporating more mature styles into my wardrobe while still keeping pieces that I love and show my personality. That is why I really liked this outfit and felt extremely confident in it.
Lesson to take away...do not be afraid to try new things! If you get inspired by someone or something on social media, take it and make it your own! Style is all about expressing yourself and experimenting...as long as you feel confident and beautiful, that is all that matters.
